They help pupils develop chronological understanding, historical enquiry skills, and confidence in using key historical concepts such as cause and consequence, similarity and difference, and historical significance. Content is carefully matched to what pupils are learning in class.
Do your workshops support Ofsted expectations?
Yes. Our approach supports Ofsted priorities by:
- building secure knowledge and understanding
- supporting cultural capital
- promoting inclusion and representation
- encouraging critical thinking and discussion
- complementing classroom teaching rather than replacing it
- Sessions are purposeful, structured, and clearly linked to curriculum intent.
Which key stages do you work with?
We work with:
- Early Years (EYFS)
- Key Stage 1
- Key Stage 2
- Key Stage 3 and 4 (selected topics)
- SEN and alternative provision
- Home-education groups
All sessions are adapted to suit age, ability, and learning needs.
How is Black history included in your sessions?
Black history and global perspectives are embedded naturally and accurately within wider historical topics such as Romans, World War II, migration, trade, and innovation. This ensures history is taught in a balanced way and reflects Britain’s shared past, rather than being treated as a standalone or token topic.
Do you tailor sessions to individual schools?
Yes. Schools are encouraged to share their curriculum plans, learning objectives, or themes in advance. We use this information to tailor sessions so that they directly support classroom learning and reinforce key knowledge and concepts.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions can be delivered:
- at No Ordinary Museum
- in school settings
- remotely or digitally (where appropriate)
This flexibility helps schools choose the option that best suits their timetable and needs.
Are your sessions inclusive and accessible?
Inclusivity is central to our work. Sessions are adapted to support different learning styles and abilities, including SEN and alternative provision. We aim to ensure every pupil feels welcome, represented, and able to participate meaningfully.
Do you support cross-curricular learning?
Yes. Where appropriate, sessions include links to literacy, PSHE, citizenship, STEM, and cultural education. This supports deeper understanding and helps pupils make connections across subjects.
Do you provide pre-learning or follow-up support?
We are happy to advise schools on pre-learning activities or follow-up discussions to help embed learning. This supports progression and helps pupils retain and build upon new knowledge.
Can schools work with you more than once?
Absolutely. Many schools work with us on an ongoing basis, returning for different topics across the academic year or arranging repeat visits. We view our work as a partnership rather than a one-off experience.
How do schools book a session or make an enquiry?
Schools can contact us directly to discuss curriculum needs, availability, and delivery options. We are happy to answer questions and help plan sessions that best support teaching and learning.
